About Fitrah
OUR PURPOSE
As we become more immersed in worldly matters and not to mention, the various distractions that surround us, we can potentially lose sight of the very reason as to why we are here. Indeed, It is in our nature to forget, the word that is used in the Qur’an for a human is “insan”, which is derived from the word “nasiya”, meaning to forget. Therefore, as long as we exist as humans, we will tend to forget despite still yearning for a deep spiritual connection. Our Purpose is essentially to create products that serve as a constant reminder for Muslims to awaken their fitrah and to further assist them towards their journey to faith. In our first launch, we conducted extensive testing and research to formulate scents based upon Islamic textual sources and traditions to remind Muslims about the stories of prophets and the lessons derived from them, to detach us from this dunya , to ponder upon the signs of Allah, etc. In the near future, God willing, we hope to design and create more products that are in harmony with our vision, mission, and the needs of our Muslim community.
WHAT IS THE FITRAH?
Fitrah is the natural inclination of human beings or in other words, the innocent state in which we are born in. Interpretations from classical Islamic scholars and great thinkers suggest that this sophisticated notion of human nature essentially encompasses spirituality in the form of wanting to seek Allah and yearning for a purpose, as well as some basic morality such as justice, mercy and compassion. To further elaborate, it is the pure state that we are born in that if we are left to our own vices, it would recognize the truth of Islam. It's like a guiding beacon or an internal compass built within us. Allah has instilled this mechanism in humans to push us to the truth. The fitrah has the potency to know the creator and align with whatever that is in harmony with the fitrah. To believe in Allah and to do what is morally good is indeed only natural and thus from the fitrah.
Awakening the Fitrah
The fitrah can be corrupted or clouded like a veil as we become more immersed in this world and allow our external environment, such as friends, family, society and anything else that shapes our perspective to influence us. However, just as the fitrah can become corrupted or clouded, it can also become uncovered and aligned through revelation, deep reflection and spiritual experiences. Reflecting upon revelation and pondering upon the signs of Allah can aid in aligning the fitrah, along with spiritual experiences, usually in the form of prayer, dhikr, dua or meditation. In spite of our best efforts to use the means Allah has provided to awaken the fitrah, it is ultimately Allah who guides us.
